How to choose a Mac mini host
Start with what the Mac has to do. A CI runner or an always-on agent needs memory more than anything: 16GB covers most builds and API-driven agents, and 24GB gives room for local models and parallel jobs. Storage fills faster than people expect once Xcode, simulators and caches land on the disk, so 512GB is the comfortable size for build machines.
Then look at how you are billed and how fast you get the machine. Hourly clouds suit short bursts of work. Monthly or quarterly leases are cheaper for machines that stay on. Some hosts provision in minutes, others in days. Finally, check what you actually get: a whole physical Mac with admin rights, a virtual machine, or a user account on a shared Mac. Our cloud Mac vs Mac VPS guide explains the difference.
